Thai prostitutes and hookers
Thai prostitutes are easy to find
It’s no secret what many people come to Thailand for and it is, rather unfavourably, best known for its prostitutes and hookers. There is, of course, a lot more to Thailand than its sex industry, but it really is about the best place for getting your rocks off, male or female, gay and straight.
There are many thousands of Thai prostitutes and hookers in the kingdom – less so Burmese and Laotians – with around 10,000 alone working in Bangkok’s bars and on the streets. They mostly work in go go bars and beer bars, with the latter providing the mainstay of Thai hookers.
Most of these bars are contained in red light districts in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, and the streets in and around these areas are littered with freelance Thai prostitutes after dark. There’s a big difference between the two, with lower prices for streetwalkers being the main factor. The big negative is the greater risk in being cheated and robbed.
Virtually all Thai prostitutes and hookers in the bars frequented by tourists speak some semblance of English, although that all Thai women are beautiful is certainly not a given. There are many ordinary, past-it ladies working the bars and streets which you wouldn’t give a second look, yet there are also many stunners. The average lady tends to be quite pretty with a good body and hails from the poor northeast, known as Isaan.
Thai prostitutes and hookers are usually easy going and enjoy having fun with customers. It’s almost as if they’re not actual prostitutes; more like paid hostesses to provide company and possible sexual relations. The cost of this fun within the bar is free, though they like you to buy them drinks as they make commission that way.
Meeting horny Thai girls for free
Many 'bachelors' visiting Thailand take the easy way out by visiting girlie bars and go go bars, but there are also regular girls not on the game that are keen on meeting foreigners for a fling. Horny and lonely Thai girls go looking for sex online with visiting or resident Westerners. They aren't expecting money or a long-term boyfriend and haven't been with many other men. One of the best places to meet these chicks is Adult Friend Finder, where there are more than 10,000 registered Thai female members.
Red light zones are all over Thailand
The cost of the actual sex part goes from 500 baht for an hour (known as short-time) in Pattaya or Hat Yai up to 4,000 baht all night with a Bangkok go go girl. Thai hookers from escort agencies in Bangkok can be four times as much again for all day. You also need to pay money to the bar for taking the girls out (called a ‘bar fine’), which is anywhere from 200 baht (slow bar on Koh Chang) to 600 baht at a Bangkok go go. With freelancers you won’t need to pay this.
Red light districts
Bangkok’s Patpong, Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy are well known internationally and are the main red light districts in the capital. There are differences between the three. Patpong (on Silom) is the original and is known for its sex and ping pong shows, Nana Plaza (Sukhumvit Soi 4) is an arcade filled with beer bars and go gos, while Soi Cowboy is further along Sukhumvit and is less in your face and a wee bit cheaper.
In Pattaya, most people hit Walking Street at night, which is a mass of Thai prostitutes and hookers. There is just so much going on down this street that it’s hard to know where to sit and drink. Pattaya also has a gay area on Pattayaland and Boyz Town, as well as some good girlie bars and ladyboy bars on Soi 6.
Phuket is best known for Bangla Road in the resort of Patong. It’s a bit similar to Pattaya’s Walking Street though is a bit classier. Other resort towns on Phuket are also busy with Thai prostitutes, including Karon and Kata, but Patong is where it’s at for the non-discerning type interested in sex.
Koh Samui’s main action is within Chaweng Central, just back from the beach, and in neighbouring Lamai. In Chiang Mai, head for Loi Kroh Road and one street west of the Night Bazaar. Koh Chang has the best of the action in ‘Little Pattaya’ along White Sand Beach, Kanchanaburi along River Kwai Road, while Hua Hin is known for Soi Bintabaht. In Krabi head for Centre Point in Ao Nang, and Hat Yai around Thamanoon Vithee.
How it works
All of these areas have bars that you can simply wander in and grab a beer, talk to the women and bar fine – i.e., take home for a shag. Some will want to just do short-time so they can get back to the bar quick for another run (typically Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket), while others want to go back with you for a good time and to sleep.
Can you bring girls to your hotel?
Some Thai hotels don't mind tourists bringing bar girls back to their room as long as they are discreet, while others charge extra or forbid it altogether. To save the embarrassment we've enquired with most of them and listed those that are suited to bachelors...see the list, rates and booking here
If you’re new to this, they’ll usually bring up the idea of going back to the hotel, but don’t worry about asking for a particular girl that hasn’t approached you. They are all generally available in a given bar, so steam in there. Have a beer or two, perhaps buy her a drink, ask how much, negotiate if too steep, pay the bar fine, get her to show her ID card at the hotel reception, and go to bed.
Escort agencies and massage parlours
Thai prostitutes and hookers also work through escort agencies and massage parlours. Escorts are typically the domain of business types and those with money as they’re super expensive (for Thailand). While usually sexy, smart and pretty, go go girls are very similar but half the price, or less in the case of Bangkok. Massage parlours can be found all over the country and also offer discreet sex.
